FAQ
Do I need to refrigerate or freeze my bait?
No! It is not necessary to refrigerate this bait, however, we do recommend that if you want to keep it fresh for as long as possible keep your bait in the fridge when not in use. Do NOT freeze your bait, as this causes water to expand and shrink within the bait and produces inconsistencies in texture and moisture once thawed.
How long does the Salty Bits Fishing Bait last?
Our Salty Bits Bait is specially formulated to stay fresh outside of refrigeration, but it is still seafood! We recommend getting a fresh bag of bait after 2-3 months, or at the beginning of your fishing season. As long as the bait does not look mushy or smell putrid, it is still good to use.
What does it smell like?
Squidy Bits smell like fish food! A bit like fresh fish or shrimp meal. We are currently experimenting with scent, but this may fluctuate depending on the feedback you provide us. Please let us know if you like or dislike the scent of the Squidy Bits!

How you use the bait also depends on which type you choose and what kind of fish you want to target. This bait shines because it cannot be pulled off the hook, so if you feel a bite you can leave your line in the water, knowing you still have bait.
We like to use the Squidy Bits Tentacles to tip on the end of jig heads and other lures as a replacement for soft plastics. Squidy Bits Slabs are unique because they allow the angler to cut pieces and shapes specific to the lure or rig they are using. Our favorite way to use the Jumbo Slabs is to cut them into triangle shapes or forks and fish them on the end of bucktails.
Shrimpy Bits and Clammy Bits can either be put on a hook whole or cut up for smaller fish. Cut a piece of clam or shrimp that will easily fit in the mouth of the fish you are targeting. For fish such as pompano, trout, redfish, drum, whiting, or other species, use a piece that is sized accordingly. Perfect for hook-and-sinker fishermen: hook the bait on a high-low rig, or a bottom rig, or simply drift it with a split shot. It all depends on the structure you are fishing!
